Instagram, one of the world’s most popular social media platforms, has gone down in many places due to a sudden technical problem. Users in many countries including India have complained of difficulty opening the app, sending messages and viewing their feed. Because of this, Instagram is trending down on social media.
the problem started in the morning
According to reports, the problem started around 7:40 am Indian time. The number of complaints spiked after 9 a.m., with thousands of users reporting issues with Instagram on outage tracking website DownDetector. According to the data of Downdetector, users are facing many types of problems. About 71% reported difficulty in accessing the app. Nearly 20% reported server connection failures. Additionally, some users complained that their Instagram feed or timeline was not loading.
The most common complaint is about Instagram’s direct message (DM) feature. Many users reported that they are not able to send messages to their friends or their messages are getting delayed. Some people even told that they were in the middle of a conversation when suddenly the sending of messages stopped. This outage was not limited to India only. Users in several US cities, including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Washington, also reported similar problems. Meanwhile, some people on social media are linking this matter to US-Iran tension. However, these claims have not yet been confirmed and are being considered as mere rumours.
At present, no official statement has been issued by Meta or Instagram regarding the outage. Users are advised to wait for some time as such technical issues usually get resolved after some time. If your Instagram messages or feed are not working properly, there is no need to panic. This is probably a temporary server issue that will be fixed soon.
