New Delhi, July 14 (IANS). Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is going to launch a new and modern version of its ticket booking website from July 15, which aims to make the ticket booking process faster, easier and user-friendly than before.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced this new website during an event organized in Rajasthan. He said that some students had pointed out the problems faced while booking train tickets on the existing IRCTC portal, after which it was decided to further improve the platform.
The new website has been designed in such a way that it will increase the efficiency of ticket booking manifold and provide a better experience to the passengers. According to the announcement, the new portal will be capable of booking over 1.5 lakh tickets per minute, while the current website has a capacity of around 32,000 tickets per minute.
Along with this, Passenger Reservation System (PRS) of Railways has also been upgraded. The new system will be able to handle more than 40 lakh inquiries per minute, while the existing capacity is around 4 lakh inquiries per minute. This upgrade will especially reduce delays during Tatkal ticket booking and make the website work faster than before.
Many new features have also been added to the new website for the convenience of passengers. Now passengers will be able to choose their preferred seat while booking tickets. Apart from this, the facility of fare calendar will be available, through which the fares for different dates can be compared and the most suitable option can be chosen.
Keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, the new website will be available in many Indian languages. Also, special booking facilities for disabled, students and patients have been integrated on a single platform, so that they do not have to go through separate processes.
The interface of the new website will also be cleaner and simpler than before. Unnecessary pop-ups, flashing graphics and repetitive captchas have been reduced to a great extent, making ticket booking, especially Tatkal tickets, easier and faster.
Additionally, passengers no longer have to check different categories like Sleeper, AC 3 Tier or AC 2 Tier separately to check seat availability. The new website will see seat availability of all classes on a single screen, making comparison and booking tickets more convenient than ever.
