Google can save your activities like Search, YouTube and Location, but you can control it to a great extent by changing your privacy settings. Let us tell you how to delete it.
If you think that Google keeps an eye on your online activity, then it is not completely wrong. Many of your activities when you use Google Search, YouTube, Google Maps, and other Google services are saved in your Google Account. Google can use these to show you personalized experiences and ads.
However, users have many options to better control their privacy. You can manage your web and app activity, YouTube history, and location history by going to Google Account settings. Let us know how Google’s online activity tracking can be reduced.
Turn off Google Web & App Activity
Google can save your Search and activity on some other Google services with Web & App Activity. To turn it off, first login to your Google Account. After this go to Data & Privacy section. Here you will see the option of History settings. In this, click on Web & App Activity and turn it off. Google may also give you the option to choose whether to delete old activity or not.
If you don’t want to close it completely, you can also set the auto-delete option here. With this, your old activity data can be automatically deleted after the stipulated time.
Stop YouTube Tracking
If you want to prevent Google from saving the videos you watch and searches done on YouTube, you can change the settings of YouTube History. Go to the Data & Privacy section of your Google Account and select YouTube History under History settings. From here you can turn off YouTube history or use the auto-delete setting.
Keep in mind, managing YouTube History may also affect the personalized suggestions you get based on your watched videos and search history.
Turn off Location History
Your location information may also be saved when you use Google Maps and other services. If you want to stop Google from saving your location history, go to your Google Account’s Location History settings. From here you can turn off Location History. According to Google, your location may still be used for some services even after turning off this setting. Therefore, if you want more privacy, then definitely check the Location Permission setting of your phone.
Delete Old Google Activity Data
Simply turning off tracking is not enough. If your old data is already saved in your Google Account, it can also be deleted. For this go to My Activity section of Google Account. Here you can get information about your different activities. You can delete a specific activity or choose to delete older data based on date.
