New Delhi, 13 September (IANS). Gross logistics and industrial (L&I) leasing are expected to cross 60 million square feet (MSF) by the end of the year. According to a report on Saturday, this sector will set a new benchmark on the strength of strong demand.
Real Estate Service firm Kushman and Wakefield said in a report, “In the first half of 2025, the growth of leasing in warehousing and industrial segment remained in double digits, the total leasing was 30.7 million square feet, which was 21.6 percent growth on an annual basis than 12.1 percent more than the second half of 2024.”
The demonstration shows the strong fundamental of the region, in which the leasing activity has been crossing 50 million square feet annually for the last three consecutive years.
By the end of this year, Gross Leasing is expected to cross the 60 MSF, which will set a new standard for India’s logistics and industrial market.
According to the report, warehousing remained a major driver, which stakes 21.9 MSF in leasing and represents 71.3 percent, while the Industrial Sector contributed 8.8 MSF, which is 28.7 percent of the total leasing.
Engineering and Manufacturing (E&M) on the Sectoral Front secured a leading place in overall leasing with 9.7 MSF, which was 32 percent of the total absorption and recorded a 37 percent increase on an annual basis.
The report stated that it reflects the growing role of the manufacturing sector in India’s self -sufficient economy, which has been upgraded to infrastructure and supporting supporting policies. 3 PL operators took 7.4 MSF lease, which represents a 24 percent stake and indicates a stable increase.
The e-commerce sector recorded the fastest annual bounce, with an increase of 158 percent to 4.6 MSF on an annual basis and gained a 15 percent stake in the total leasing.
The Gujarat head of Kushman and Vackfield, Managing Director of Logistics and Industrial Services India, Abhishek Bhutani said, “The first half performance confirms that India’s logistics and industrial sector is moving beyond structural strength by moving beyond the swing.”
The report stated that strong demand fundamental is ready to maintain its strong speed by 25 MSF healthy supply pipeline of grade-e-warehousing in the next 2-3 years, with support policy measures of India by India’s logistics and Industrial Sector 2025.
