META Server Crash: Facebook and Instagram down, millions of users upset, chaos on social media

The servers of Meta’s social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram, have suddenly gone down, leaving users struggling to access their accounts through both the website and the app. Refreshing the official Facebook page shows this message: “Sorry, something went wrong.” A note below it states that the team is working on the issue and hopes to have a fix soon.

Reports from users suggest that the issue is not limited to a specific region, as people in multiple countries have reported similar issues at the same time. Users from different cities of India have also reported problems in using this platform of Meta.

Data from Downdetector shows that 104,001 complaints have been filed till 7:01 pm on June 12. Of these, 56% of users reported problems using the Facebook app, 25% had trouble logging into their accounts, and 11% had trouble accessing the Facebook website. “Facebook down” and “Instagram down” began trending on microblogging platform X as users began reporting outages there. A user shared the post and said that his Facebook account was logging out automatically.

Till the time of writing this news, Meta had not issued any official statement explaining the reason for the outage. There is no information yet about when the services of Facebook and Instagram will be restored.
