Technology giant Microsoft has pledged to make a major investment of $17.5 billion (approximately ₹1,45,000 crore) in India to strengthen the country’s AI-first future. According to Microsoft Chairman Satya Nadella, this is the company’s largest investment in Asia so far.

Announcing this on a social media platform, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He wrote, “Thank you to Prime Minister Modi for the conversation on AI opportunities in India. To support the country’s ambitions, Microsoft is pledging $17.5 billion – our largest investment ever in Asia – to help build the infrastructure and skills needed for India’s AI-first future.”

Focus on AI infrastructure
This investment will primarily focus on developing state-of-the-art data centers and technological infrastructure to meet the country’s AI and cloud computing needs. It will also fund training and skill development programs to prepare the Indian workforce for the AI ​​age. This big investment by Microsoft is being considered an important step towards establishing India as a major power on the global AI map. It will also strengthen Prime Minister Modi’s initiatives like ‘Digital India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
