Modern training techniques are necessary for skill development of station masters: Ashwini Vaishnav

New Delhi, June 19 (IANS). Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, in a review meeting, discussed upgrading the training system through the use of virtual reality, simulators and other modern training technologies for skill development of station masters. This information was given in an official statement released on Friday.

The Railway Minister said that modern skill development and capacity building is extremely necessary, so that Station Masters can be better prepared to deal with the increasing complexities of railway operations and emergency situations.

In the review meeting, implementation of mobile app based paperless working system and integrated station management system for station masters was also discussed.

The objective of these arrangements is to establish better coordination between various departments and ensure faster resolution of passenger related problems.

Proposals related to giving more administrative and operational powers to station masters, providing better opportunities for their career development and giving them more opportunities to reach higher management positions were also discussed in the meeting.

According to a Railway Ministry statement, these measures will help station masters take faster decisions, provide better services to passengers and effectively monitor station infrastructure, staff offices, railway colonies and other related facilities.

Various challenges and problems faced by station masters were also discussed in the meeting. Station Master plays an important role in ensuring safe train operations in Railways, coordinating with various departments, managing passenger amenities and smooth functioning of railway stations.

The main objective of the discussion was to create a more inspiring and growth oriented work environment for the employees working in this important operational category.

Railway Minister reviewed the need for appointment of additional Station Masters in multi-line and high traffic sections where traffic and operational complexities have increased significantly.

He also stressed the need to fill the vacant posts in this cadre soon and directed to complete it on priority basis.

Proposals related to increasing the financial powers of station masters were also reviewed for faster resolution of local level problems and to increase passenger convenience.

Apart from this, there was also discussion on providing better safety equipment and user-friendly tools at the stations. The ministry said that keeping in mind the increasing participation of women in the cadre of station masters, special attention is being given to further improving these facilities.
