NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have announced new features for UPI users. Now users will not require a PIN to make UPI payments. Users will also be able to make UPI payments by showing their face. However, there is a limit on transactions using this facility.
A special feature in UPI
NPCI has announced a biometric feature for UPI users. Additionally, users will now be able to make UPI payments using their smartglasses. Both of these features are designed to make UPI even easier for users. This feature will soon be available in apps like Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm. Users will be able to use their face or fingerprint instead of a PIN to make payments.
NPCI has set the UPI payment limit for the biometric feature at ₹5,000, which means users will be able to make UPI payments only up to ₹5,000 using biometric verification. This feature will currently benefit users for small transactions. They will not need to enter the PIN for payments again and again.
How will this work?
This UPI facility will be launched soon. After the launch of this feature, users will have to open UPI apps like Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm.
To make payment, go to Contact or QR Code option.
Then enter the payment amount. Then select the bank from which you want to make the payment.
After this, you will get the option to enter the UPI PIN. Users will also see a biometric option here.
By choosing this option, users can make UPI payments by registering their face or fingerprint.
This feature will verify the biometric information of your Aadhaar card, such as facial expressions, retina scan and fingerprint. After this the payment process will be completed.
