Angered by this, users started uninstalling the company’s ChatGPT app. To combat this, OpenAI is now offering users a free month of ChatGPT Plus plan. It is not yet known where this offer is being offered, but many users have claimed to have received it.
ChatGPT uninstallation rate increased by almost 300%
According to media reports, after the news of partnership with the US government, users started uninstalling ChatGPT. By last Saturday this figure had increased to 295%. Meanwhile, OpenAI’s competitor, Anthropic, benefited. Anthropic had said that it would not allow its technology to be used for autonomous weapons and mass surveillance of American citizens. After this, downloads of the company’s cloud chatbot started increasing rapidly. Anthropic is now also increasing its features to attract users.

Faced with user anger and growing controversy, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has issued a clarification. He admitted that the company was hasty in signing the deal with the US government. The company has now changed its partnership, and its technology will no longer be used to monitor American citizens. Altman said the company made a mistake in finalizing the deal on Friday.
