New Delhi, July 3 (IANS). The central government on Friday said that after the facility of free email ID update on Aadhaar app started from July 1, more than 2.5 times more emails have been updated in the first two days.
In another step towards enhancing the convenience of residents, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has now allowed people to add or update their email ID in Aadhaar directly through the Aadhaar app, eliminating the need to visit Aadhaar centres, the government said.
According to UIDAI, this service is available free of cost only through the Aadhaar app, which will be effective for a period of six months from July 1, 2026. This will make it easier than ever for residents to keep their Aadhaar information updated. By eliminating the need for physical commuting, this initiative underlines UIDAI’s commitment to provide people-friendly digital services towards a developed India under Digital India.
The government said that the new Aadhaar app, designed with the aim of making life easier, is enabling people to easily avail many services including mobile number update and address update right from their smartphones.
So far, more than 40 lakh people have updated their mobile numbers using the new Aadhaar app. At the same time, about 10 lakh people have also updated their address using this app.
UIDAI said that any person can avail the facility of adding and updating email ID in his/her Aadhaar. This can be easily done by downloading or updating the Aadhaar app.
