Piyush Goyal and Sonowal held a meeting to ease foreign trade

New Delhi, May 22 (IANS). Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday that the Central Government is continuously working towards making the country’s trade system more accessible, faster, modern and future-ready. He informed that an important meeting was organized to directly understand the problems of exporters, importers and port officials and find solutions.

While sharing the information on social media platform ‘X’, Piyush Goyal said that he co-chaired this meeting along with his colleague and Union Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. In the meeting, direct interaction was held with exporters, importers and port officials of India.

The Union Minister said that the Government is committed to taking timely and coordinated action, so that trade related issues can be resolved expeditiously and new opportunities are created for Indian businesses. He said that the government aims to make Indian businessmen more competitive in the global market.

Goyal further said that the Central Government is working under a ‘Whole of Government (WOG) approach’, in which various ministries and departments are jointly pursuing trade and logistics reforms.

He said that the government has taken several important steps in the last few years to simplify business processes, strengthen port infrastructure and modernize the logistics system, with the aim of providing better facilities to industries and business and making India a strong center of global trade.

The Union Minister said that the government is creating a business ecosystem that is fast, effective, accountable and responsive to future needs. This will further strengthen the ‘Ease of Doing Business’, and Indian companies will get new opportunities in the international market.
