New Delhi, February 11 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met Rolls-Royce CEO Tufan Erginbilgich and said the government welcomes the company’s expansion of activities in India.
“Delighted to meet Tufan Erginbilgich, CEO of Rolls-Royce today. We welcome Rolls-Royce’s enthusiasm to expand its activities in India and partner with our innovative and dynamic youth,” Prime Minister Modi said in a post on social media platform
Earlier, Rolls-Royce had said that its CEO met Prime Minister Modi to discuss how the company is expanding its operations to be a part of ‘Developed India’, including making its Global Capability Center the world’s largest, co-creation in complex manufacturing and development of high-value engineering capabilities.
In October last year, Rolls-Royce had said it was proud to participate in the industry dialogues organized during the visit of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to India following the signing of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.
The company aims to further strengthen the India-UK economic partnership, in line with the India-UK Vision 2035. Rolls-Royce CEO Erginbilgich visited India as part of an industry delegation to accompany the UK Prime Minister.
Erginbilgich said the company’s ambition is to make India a home market for Rolls-Royce. He said, “We have a deep ambition to make India the home of Rolls-Royce, building on our strong and successful partnerships. Our competitively advanced technologies in the air, land and maritime sectors enable us to build capabilities within the country and develop strategic partnerships that will accelerate India’s goal of ‘Developing India’.”
He further said, “We are committed to partner in the journey of a self-reliant India, thereby driving growth, self-reliance, innovation and strengthening global presence in critical industries.”
According to the company, its distinctive capabilities in the civil aviation, defense and energy sectors will enable it to expand its presence and partnerships in India and continue to provide India with energy, security and connectivity for decades to come.
