Jaipur, March 17 (IANS). Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas said that deliberate use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the education system can significantly strengthen basic education in government schools.
He was addressing a dialogue program organized at Rajasthan International Center on the topic ‘Role of AI in Rajasthan’s Education’. This program was organized by Sampark Foundation.
Emphasizing the transformative potential of AI, Srinivas said that it can play an important role in improving teaching methods, helping in making informed decisions in the field of education and improving overall learning outcomes.
He emphasized that the state government is committed to adopting innovative approaches that empower teachers, increase student participation and ensure greater accountability in the education system.
He further said that AI technology provides a strong platform to bring together teaching methods and policies, thereby improving education outcomes for children.
Krishna Kunal, Secretary, School Education Department, stressed the growing importance of AI in school education. He said that if technology is tailored to the needs of teachers and students, it can significantly aid efforts to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy.
Encouraging teachers to adopt new technologies, he said that teachers should not only use AI tools but also guide students to think critically, so that they learn to ask meaningful questions beyond just finding answers.
During a panel discussion, Samagra Shiksha executives and experts from education, technology and policy sectors shared their views on the role of AI in government schools.
The event was organized to commemorate 20 years of work done by Sampark Foundation in the field of technology based education.
Ravi Kumar Surpur (Secretary, IT Department), Vineet Nair and Rajeshwar Rao along with senior education officers, academic experts and technology experts were also present in the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner Akashdeep stressed the need to integrate AI into the inclusive education framework, while Deputy Commissioner Santosh Kumar Meena highlighted its practical applications and benefits in the education sector.
