In today’s world, everything from our banking details to social media accounts is saved on our phones. Due to this, phone theft has become a big problem. To ease this concern, Google has released anti-theft updates for Android that will make it even more difficult to use a stolen phone. This will keep the user’s data safe and the user will be able to take timely action.
These updates are for Android phones
Google has announced that it has released several upgrades to strengthen the security of the device. Some of these will be available on phones running Android 16 and up, while others will be available on phones running Android 10 and up. The biggest change is related to authentication. Currently, if the phone does not unlock even after several attempts, it locks itself. The new upgrade brings a failed authentication lock, which can be turned on or off in Settings. This will make security even stronger.
Google has added these new options
For biometric security, Google has introduced a new identity check feature. This feature was earlier limited to just the device, but now it will cover third-party apps as well. Under this, no one outside the trusted location will be able to access sensitive features without biometric authentication. Google has also increased the lockout time for PIN and pattern guessing.
Recovery tools have also been upgraded
Google has also upgraded Android’s recovery tools. Now, the Remote Lock feature lets you add an optional security question that needs to be answered before you can unlock the phone through the website. This will reduce the risk of misuse of the phone. In this way, Google has completely upgraded the protection against theft.
