New Delhi, 25 September (IANS). On the completion of 11 years of ‘Make in India’ Initiative, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Thursday that the ‘Make in India’ program is turning India into a global manufacturing powerhouse.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Make in India’ program on 25 September 2014 to strengthen the manufacturing sector of the country.

The Union Minister wrote on the social media platform X, “Record FDI inflow in these years, comprehensive improvement in business, our progress as the second largest mobile manufacturer at the global level, increase in exports and expansion of defense production, all show how much we have come.”

Goyal further said that the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme has created large-scale investment and employment, while our vibrant startup Ecosystem, inspired by the enthusiasm and energy of our youth and women, has made India the third largest innovation center in the world.

He added, “This journey has been possible with the collective effort of our industry, MSME, startups, entrepreneurs and every citizen who keep the indigenous spirit in his heart.”

He said that the 11 -year story of ‘Make in India’ is the story of the revival and the coming decade will write the story of global leadership through self -reliant and developed India.

According to Goyal, the world is also looking at India’s defense manufacturing potential.

The Union Minister said, “Inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s point of view, the country has achieved historical achievements in indigenous defense production, which shows the success of ‘Make in India’ initiative.”

Last week, the Commerce Minister unveiled several transformational initiatives to further promote the ‘Make in India’ scheme. The initiative was held on the occasion of a decade long celebration of this major program, which has so far played an important and productive role in the journey to make India self -sufficient.

Goyal unveiled major initiatives developed by the Department of Industry and Internal Trade Principal, which aims to enhance operational efficiency and create a future ready for the future, globally to build a competitive logistics ecosystem.

He also launched the Logistics Data Bank (LDB) 2.0, which will lead India to digital strong, investment-taiyar and export-related economy.
