If you are thinking of buying a laptop, hurry up. This is the best time to buy. Missing this may cost you more money. Laptop prices are expected to increase by 35 percent this year due to rising prices of processor, GPU and memory components. Experts say that rising prices of RAM and shortage of entry-level Intel processors are bound to increase laptop prices.
Expected decline after record shipment
According to a report by Moneycontrol, laptop prices may increase by 35 percent this year. After record shipments in 2025, PC shipments are expected to decline by 8 percent this year. Last year, India’s PC market shipped about 16 million units, which is 10 percent more than in 2024. This was the first time that PC shipments exceeded 15 million units.
The impact on prices is beginning to be seen
Laptops have become more expensive recently due to the shortage of memory chips and rising prices of other components. Memory chip prices have increased 2.5-3 times, making laptops and desktops costlier by 10-12 percent. Prices are expected to increase by another 10 percent this month, and similar increases are expected in the coming months. Laptops which were earlier selling for ₹30,000-₹35,000 are now reaching close to ₹45,000.
No hope for immediate relief
If you are expecting prices to drop soon, there is little chance of that happening. Experts say that the situation will not become normal for the next six to seven quarters. It is believed that the PC market will get relief from rising prices and component shortage only in the second half of next year.
