While booking tickets for AC or sleeper coach, some people often insist on taking a lower berth. Be it First AC, Second AC, Third AC or Sleeper, a coach usually has only two or three lower berths in each compartment, which are not available to everyone. In one such case, a ticket checker of Dibrugarh Rajdhani train explained how to get a lower berth. Four senior citizens had booked tickets in third AC, but none of them got the lower berth. When he asked the TTE why he was not given a lower berth despite being a senior citizen, the TTE first told the reason and then told the way to get the lower berth. This video is now going viral on the internet.
How to get lower berth?
The railway employee present in the train tells in the video, “Today there are four of us in 12424 Dibrugarh Rajdhani, and all four are senior citizens. However, the four berths they have got are upper and middle berths. Sir, I have a doubt: why did they not get the lower berth despite being senior citizens?” In response to this question, the TTE explains, “If you want the benefit of lower berth being a senior citizen, book only two tickets in one PNR. Booking more than one ticket (two, three or four) at a time will not give you the benefit of being a senior citizen. So, if you want the benefit of a lower berth in future, book as a passenger ticket only.”
