New Delhi, November 3 (IANS). According to the information given by the Ministry of Labor and Employment on Monday, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Labor and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports, will lead the Indian delegation to the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD-2) to be held in Doha, Qatar from 4 to 6 November 2025.

According to the ministry, Dr. Mandaviya will participate in the Summit Opening Plenary Meeting, deliver India’s national statement and join leaders from across the world in adopting the Doha Political Declaration.

He will address the high-level round table on ‘Strengthening the Three Pillars of Social Development: Poverty Eradication, Full and Productive Employment and Decent Work for All and Social Inclusion’. In his address, the Union Minister will highlight India’s transformational journey towards inclusive and digitally enabled development.

According to the Centre, India is emerging on the global stage as a nation that has made a significant achievement in poverty alleviation. India lifted 248 million people out of multidimensional poverty between 2011 and 2023, reducing the number of people living below the international poverty line to just 2.3 per cent in 2022-23.

India’s social security coverage is set to increase from 19 percent in 2015 to 64.3 percent in 2025, benefitting more than 94 crore citizens. A major highlight of India’s participation will be an additional event organized by NITI Aayog on 5 November 2025. The session will showcase India’s achievements in poverty alleviation, economic empowerment of women through self-help groups and cooperatives, and expansion of social security for all.

The ministry says that international partners including Brazil, Maldives and ILO will also participate in this program. Apart from this, Union Minister Mandaviya will also participate in the ILO-sponsored Ministerial Program on Global Alliance for Social Justice.
