Now there is no need to go anywhere to change the mobile number linked to Aadhaar card – this work can be done directly from your home. The country’s Aadhaar-regulatory body UIDAI has said that it has released a feature in the new Aadhaar App (Aadhaar App / mAadhaar), which will allow users to change their registered mobile number online.
✅What’s new – features and methods
Now you will not need to go to any Aadhaar Seva Kendra or post office to update your mobile number.
The process will be completely digital — identification will be done through OTP verification and face authentication in the app.
The user will not need any document i.e. identity certificate.
After entering the new number, OTP will have to be verified; If the identification is successful, the number linked to Aadhaar will change.
What updates can happen next?
UIDAI says that currently the facility of mobile number update has been started, and in future, the option to update name, address and email ID (email) will also be made available in the app.
Which means: remote-agricultural areas, senior citizens, disabled or migrated people – who used to face difficulty in going to Aadhaar Seva Kendra – this facility is bringing huge relief to all of them.
What benefit will the public get from this
Now the need for long queues and travel to the Aadhaar center will be eliminated.
There will be no hassle like document verification and filling physical forms.
Saving both time and travel — especially for rural areas and senior citizens.
Easy to update Aadhaar after changing phone number or migration.
This new change reinforces the goal of Digital India — where citizens can update their identity information easily, securely, and from their mobile phones — hassle-free, without any document verification, and without having to go anywhere.
