New Delhi, December 8 (IANS). Have you ever wondered how in ancient times the water of village wells remained so sweet, cool and pure for years? Today we are dependent on RO, UV, filters and many machines, but our grandfathers and great grandfathers used to drink water without any machines, which neither got spoiled nor did it spread diseases.
Its secret was not in any magic, but in his natural and scientific way of thinking. In those days, copper and limestone were added to the bottom of the well, which played a big role in making the water clean and healthy.
In ancient times, every house had copper utensils and copper items were also used in wells. The reason for this was the natural antibacterial ability of copper. As soon as copper comes in contact with water, its ions slowly dissolve in water and eliminate bacteria, viruses and many other types of harmful germs.
Today’s modern science also believes that copper purification is an excellent natural method. This is the reason why earlier water did not spoil and people were largely safe from stomach related diseases.
Now let’s talk about limestone. It was widely used in wells because it balanced the pH of water. If the water was too acidic, it would normalize it. If it was too alkaline, it balanced it. In addition, the limestone adsorbed the soil and other particles present in the water and settled it, making the water above clear and completely transparent.
Not only this, it also naturally contains minerals like calcium and magnesium, which gradually mix with water and make it more nutritious. This is the reason why people used to drink that water daily even without calling it mineral water and their bones remained strong.
Today, even though technology has advanced a lot and machines have made our work easier, the truth is that there was deep science hidden in our old traditions and indigenous technologies too. The only difference was that earlier he was not given any big name, he just kept doing his work quietly.
