Work affected due to poor mobile network in many sectors of Noida, employees demand drive test from TRAI

Noida, July 16 (IANS). On one hand, India is moving rapidly towards becoming a leader in the field of 6G technology in the world, while on the other hand, companies in many sectors of Noida in Uttar Pradesh and the border areas adjacent to Delhi have been struggling with the problem of poor mobile network and frequent call drops for a long time. At present, people do not seem to be getting relief from this continuous problem.

Employees of many companies working in Sector-3 of Noida and adjacent border areas say that the services of almost all the major telecom companies including Airtel, Vodafone and Reliance Jio are being disrupted repeatedly. The situation is that during busy office hours many times neither calls can be made nor messages can be sent.

An employee working in a private electronics company located in Sector-3 told IANS that now this problem has become almost a daily occurrence. Many times, neither phone calls can be made, nor social media can be used, nor SMS or other messages can be sent. This is directly impacting their daily work and business. He demanded immediate intervention of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in the matter and sought answers from the telecom companies to repair the network services.

Another employee, who works in a private real estate software company in Sector-3, said that sometimes the mobile network remains completely missing for hours. At such times it is not possible to contact family and friends.

He said that many times one has to go to certain places outside the office to meet the network, but it is not possible to do so every time. This becomes even more difficult especially during extreme heat. He demanded TRAI to conduct drive tests in the affected areas as soon as possible.

A large number of companies and business establishments from different sectors operate in these industrial sectors of Noida. In such a situation, the problem of mobile connectivity has posed a big challenge to both employees and companies, because uninterrupted communication is the most important requirement of any business.

Even before this, TRAI has received several complaints from consumers regarding call drops and weak mobile network in Delhi, especially in the NDMC area and Lutyens Bungalow Zone (LBZ).

Following these complaints, TRAI had held meetings with telecom service providers and also conducted drive tests in the affected areas to find out the actual extent of the problem.

The objective of these drive tests is to assess the real-time quality of mobile network services provided by telecom companies by testing both voice and data services.

During the drive test, TRAI measures key Quality of Service (QoS) parameters such as coverage, call drop rate (CDR), call setup success rate (CSSR), data download (DL) and upload (UL) throughput. These results are then made public, so that consumers can get correct information and telecom companies can take necessary steps to improve their services.
