Table Tennis: Only a few days are left for the start of Paris Olympics 2024 and this time 117 Indian players are participating in the Olympics. The number of medals of India is also expected to reach double digits. Last time India won a total of 7 medals in the Olympics, which was India’s best performance in an Olympics. Star Indian badminton player PV Sindhu will play the responsibility of the women’s flag bearer in the opening ceremony this time. At the same time, table tennis player A Sharath Kamal will play the responsibility of the flag bearer of the Indian men’s team.

Sharat Kamal said this

This is Sharath Kamal’s fifth Olympics. But he has not been able to win a medal yet. In a special conversation with India TV’s sports editor Sameep Rajguru, he said that for the first time a table tennis player is becoming the flag bearer. This is a great honor for me and my family. If I go back with a medal in the fifth Olympics, it will be a big thing.

Sharath Kamal said that when I started in 2004, I did not think that I would be able to play for so long. After the Rio Olympics 2016, I thought what I could do next. Because by then I was 30-32 years old. After this, I won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022, so I have always carried a short goal.

Table tennis changed after 2016: Sharath Kamal

We have come to Paris with the intention of winning. We are playing in singles for the first time and have also qualified for the team event. Maybe a miracle will happen in Paris. Table tennis is progressing slowly and young players are doing well. There has been a change in table tennis after 2016. Medals will definitely come in the future. All facilities are available in the sports village.

Sharath Kamal has won many gold medals for India in the Commonwealth Games, but he does not have a single medal in the Olympics. This time he would like to make up for this shortcoming. This 42-year-old player also won two bronze medals in the Asian Games 2018.
