Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena coalition government is running in Maharashtra. Uddhav Thackeray is the head of this government. From the political corridors of Maharashtra, there have been reports of disputes between the three parties. Now news is coming that at least 25 Congress MLAs from Maharashtra have opened a front against the Maha Vikas Aghadi government. He has sought time to meet party president Sonia Gandhi to complain against Congress ministers only. He alleges that his own party ministers are not responding to his concerns. The legislators, in a letter, have urged Sonia Gandhi to intervene to ‘fix things’.
According to a report in Economic Times, some MLAs have said that ministers in MVA, especially Congress ministers, are not listening to them. One of them said, “If ministers ignore the requests of legislators to implement the work in their constituencies, how will the party do well in the elections?”
Indicating the lack of coordination in the party, the MLAs said they came to know only last week that each Congress minister was assigned three party MLAs to address their issues appropriately. Another Congress MLA said, “We came to know when HK Patil held a meeting recently that Congress ministers were allotted three MLAs each. This was apparently done a few months after the MVA government was formed. But we came to know about it only 2.5 years back. Even now no one knows which minister is associated with us.”
Other Congress MLAs said the party lagged behind the Nationalist Congress Party as Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar regularly meets NCP MLAs, allocates funds and listens to their grievances. Another Congress MLA said, “NCP is attacking us. NCP ministries would have been allocated more money. If things remained the same, Congress in Maharashtra would be marginalized like other states.”
The MLAs said that immediate action should be taken after the party’s defeat in Punjab. If the party remains idle in Maharashtra, similar results can happen, he added.
