The election results of five states are being released today. Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra has given many important information to the media. The Chief Election Commissioner informed that 31,000 new polling booths were set up for the assembly elections. He said, ‘We made 1900 polling booths, which were operated by women and due to this there was a large participation of women.’ Sushil Chandra said that in 4 out of 5 states, the number of female voters was more than the male voters.
The Chief Election Commissioner said that the use of ‘Know Your Candidate’ app was successful. The Supreme Court had decided that people with criminal backgrounds should be known to voters. That’s why we made this app. Of the total 6900 candidates, 1600 candidates had criminal cases registered against them.
The Chief Election Commissioner said election rallies were banned because of Omicron. The Election Commission has taken the violation of the election code of conduct seriously. Around 2,270 FIRs have been registered in five states. All parties are equal for the Election Commission.

On the issue of holding simultaneous elections across the country, the Election Commission said that ‘One Nation One Election’ is a good advice but it requires a change in the constitution. The Election Commission is fully prepared. Sushil Chandra said that the Election Commission is ready for elections once in 5 years.
On the question raised on EVMs in Varanasi, the Chief Commissioner said that EVMs were kept in Varanasi for training. The mistake of the ADM was that he had not informed the political parties about it. He did not inform that the movement of EVMs was done for the purpose of training. No voting machine can come out of the strong room
