There is a constant stir in the politics of Pakistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan, in his rally in Islamabad on March 27, showed a letter claiming that it contained evidence that conspiracies were being hatched from abroad to topple his government. The wave of the letter in the rally was termed by the opposition parties as an attempt to create sensation on their part and questioned it. Not only this, there was a demand from the opposition parties that Imran Khan should make that letter public.
Now Imran Khan has decided to show this letter to the journalists and allies involved in his government. Imran Khan announced this on Wednesday. Imran Khan, who attended an event in Islamabad, said that today he will show the letter which he had waved at a PTI rally.
If the matter was serious, why was the meeting of the Security Committee not called?
Earlier, Pakistani newspaper The Tribune had quoted the officials concerned in its report that the claims being made by PM Imran Khan are false. Officials have said that they have not yet seen any evidence that an international conspiracy is being hatched to topple Imran Khan through a no-confidence motion moved by opposition parties. Pakistan’s top official has told the Tribune without naming that if the threat was so serious, why was the meeting of the National Security Committee not called immediately?
What are the experts saying?
Pakistan’s constitution and political experts say that attempting to raise the issue publicly amounts to violating Imran Khan’s oath of office. All this is happening because Imran is facing a no-confidence motion from the opposition. Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif had asked Imran Khan to share the letter in front of Parliament. He had said that if the threat is real then we are ready to extend our support to Imran.
