The Government of Gujarat has completed the acquisition of 99.3% of the land required for the upcoming National High Speed Rail Project. This project is also being called ‘Bullet Train’ project which will run between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Also, the state government has so far paid a total of Rs 2,934 crore as compensation for the land parcels acquired for the project.
Responding to several questions by legislators in the state assembly on Monday, Revenue Minister Rajendra Trivedi said that all 360.75 hectares of land was to be acquired for the project in Gujarat, out of which 358.33 hectares have already been acquired.
The government in its written response said that these land parcels are in five districts of Ahmedabad, Anand, Navsari, Kheda and Vadodara and 99.3% acquisition has been completed. Data tabled by the government in the assembly shows that the land acquired for the project was the largest in Vadodara district.
The bullet train project is being implemented by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL). As per the details on the website of NHSRCL, a total of 1248.71 hectares of land was acquired out of 1396 hectares for the entire project.
According to a press release issued by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) on February 17, in the state of Gujarat (352 km), 98.6% of the land was acquired and civil construction work had started in the entire 352 km. In Maharashtra, 62 percent of the land has been acquired.
