In Varanasi, the administration has registered a case against three hundred unknown persons under several sections including attempt to murder, in connection with the uproar after catching an EVM-laden vehicle going for training.
ADG Zone Ramkumar’s car was pelted with stones. His driver Lalta Prasad was injured. On the complaint of the driver, Lalpur-Pandeypur police has registered a case under 16 serious sections including attempt to murder, robbery, rebellion, obstruction of government work. Action will be taken by identifying unidentified miscreants through videos and photos.
Hundreds of people created a ruckus on Tuesday evening, alleging rigging of EVMs kept at the counting site in Pahariya Mandi. He sat on a dharna in the premises including the main gate of Mandi. He had a scuffle with the security forces in his attempts to enter the strong room twice by breaking the barricade. After this, amidst anti-administration slogans, the Pandeypur-Pahariya road was blocked in front of Mandi.
After the incident, Divisional Commissioner Deepak Agarwal, District Election Officer Kaushal Raj Sharma, Police Commissioner A Satish Ganesh along with ADG Zone Ram Kumar had reached the spot. As soon as the vehicle of the ADG zone reached inside the Mandi gate, it was stopped near gate number two and stone pelting started from behind.
ADG Zone Ram Kumar was not injured in the incident, but driver Lalta Prasad Yadav suffered serious injuries in his ear and jaw. He fainted. Gunner Shyam Dulare Singh also sustained injuries.
The windows of the ADG zone vehicle were broken in stone pelting. Along with the glass, the side mirror, flag line, bumper and door glass were damaged. Some people broke away with the wireless antenna installed on the top of the vehicle. Slogans and abusive language were used during this period. The furious crowd was shouting loudly that you should kill so much that you could not escape alive.
Police is marking the accused by registering a case against unknown people under 16 sections including rioting, threatening, assault, obstruction of government work, damage to government property, damage to public property, attempt to murder, robbery.
