Rashtriya Janata Dal leader and former Union Minister Sharad Yadav will have to vacate the bungalow by 31 May 2022. The Supreme Court on Thursday granted time till May 31 to vacate the government bungalow allotted to Sharad Yadav as a Member of Parliament on humanitarian grounds.
The Supreme Court asked Sharad Yadav to give an affidavit within a week by when he would vacate the bungalow. In the event of non-submission of the undertaking within a week, Yadav will have to vacate the bungalow immediately in compliance with the orders of the Delhi High Court.
A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, Sanjiv Khanna and Surya Kant said, “After hearing the counsel, we are of the view that the end of justice will be on purely humanitarian grounds, giving the petitioner time to vacate the bungalow within 31st May, 2022.” provided that it becomes vacant on or before the said date.’ Sharad Yadav was made the executive convener of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the year 2008. He later resigned from the post of convener after his party parted ways with the NDA.
The Supreme Court said that an undertaking will be filed for this within a period of one week from today. If the petitioner fails to file it, he will forfeit the benefit of vacating the bungalow by May 31 and he will have to vacate the bungalow immediately as per the order of the High Court.
