Today World Vegetarian Day: Gujarat among top states in terms of adopting vegetarianism in the country


In various states across the country, the number of non-vegetarians has been increasing continuously for the last several years. However, even after this, vegetarian food has maintained its importance. In such a situation, today on World Vegetarian Day, we are going to tell you about a survey conducted in India, according to which Gujarat is included in the top five states of the country in having vegetarian food across the country.

According to the survey of the Register General of India for the year 2018, 60.95 percent of the people in the state of Gujarat are vegetarian. Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab have secured the position ahead of Gujarat in this survey. 74.9 percent in Rajasthan, 69.25 percent in Haryana and 66.75 percent in Punjab are vegetarian. According to the survey conducted by the Register General of India, people above 15 years of age were surveyed in 21 major states of the country. In which it was revealed that Telangana has the largest number of non-vegetarian people in India. It is followed by West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.

According to the survey, about 99 percent of the people in Telangana are non-vegetarian. In which 98.8 percent are male and 98.6 percent are female. Whereas in West Bengal, 98.7 percent males and 98.4 percent females are non-vegetarians. At the same time, only 26.8 percent of men and 23.4 percent of women are non-vegetarian in the country’s largest vegetarian state. Whereas in Gujarat 39.9 percent of men and 38.2 percent of women eat non-veg food.
