In Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and its alliance partners have suffered a major defeat. Under the captaincy of Akhilesh Yadav, the alliance of SP, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SubhSP) and Apna Dal (Communist) was reduced to 125 seats. At the same time, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with its allies Nishad Party and Apna Dal (S) not only returned to power but also created history. Amidst the joy and sorrow of victory and defeat, it is time for the parties to analyze the data. There must be a question in your mind that how was the role of its allies in the victory of BJP and to what extent were its allies responsible in the defeat of SP? Let us try to understand this through statistics.
In the last few elections, UP politics has seen many new experiments of alliances. Some were successful and some failed completely. The success or failure of an alliance largely depends on how many votes the parties are able to transfer to each other. In this case, SP and RLD suffered a major setback in the very first phase, where BJP was 18 per cent ahead of SP in terms of vote share. If RLD could win only 8 seats, the account of Apna Dal (Communist) could not even be opened. Party leader Pallavi Patel defeated Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya from Sirathu seat, but she contested on the SP symbol.
Strike rate of parties involved in SP alliance
According to a report in Economic Times, even Akhilesh Yadav’s own party could not play the captaincy innings and less than a third of its candidates could register victory. Of the 343 candidates who contested on the cycle symbol, only 111 could win. On the other hand, 6 out of 17 candidates of SubhaSP managed to win and the strike rate of the party was 35 percent. Even the account of Apna Dal (Communist) could not be opened. Couldn’t win any of the 5 seats. At the same time, out of 33 candidates of RLD, only 8 got victory. The strike rate of Jayant’s party stood at 24 per cent.
Whose performance in BJP alliance
BJP was instrumental in the victory of the saffron camp and played a captaincy innings. The party managed to win two-thirds of the seats. Out of 370, 255 candidates won. Talking about the performance of BJP’s allies, Nishad Party won 6 out of 16 seats and had a strike rate of 38 per cent. At the same time, the performance of Apna Dal (S) was even more amazing. The party won 12 of the 17 seats and had a strike rate of 71 per cent.
