Bangladesh Foreign Minister A. Of. Abdul Momen on Saturday said that Pakistan should apologize to the people of Bangladesh for the extreme atrocities committed during the 1971 war. He said the apology would serve as a guide to future governments in Islamabad against such heinous acts.
Addressing the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on the occasion of the 52nd Independence Day, Momen said Pakistan should be “ashamed” of not apologizing for the atrocities committed against Bengalis in 1971, Dhaka Tribune newspaper reported. .
“At that time, the Pakistan Army had committed heinous crimes and genocide. Even the Pakistani government reports that his torture was excessive. They violated all national and international human rights laws.
Momen said the government in Islamabad could make the same mistakes again in future years if it did not rectify the mistakes made in 1971. He expressed hope that the next generation of Pakistan would come forward and apologize for the crimes of their ancestors.
