The G23, a group of disgruntled Congress leaders, had suggested Mukul Wasnik for the post of the party’s president, which was not accepted. News agency ANI has given this news quoting sources. “G23 had suggested Mukul Wasnik’s name for the party president’s post, but it was not accepted,” the sources said. It is known that G23 includes big Congress leaders like Anand Sharma, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Kapil Sibal.
A source in G23 also said that the new Congress president should lead the party in the same manner as Sonia Gandhi did in the early 2000s. “Even though Sonia Gandhi is the (interim) president of Congress, the party is being run by KC Venugopal, Ajay Maken and Randeep Surjewala. There is no accountability fixed on them,” the source said.
Source said- Rahul Gandhi does not talk openly
As reported by ANI, the source said, “Rahul Gandhi is not the president. But he works behind the scenes and takes decisions. He does not talk openly. We are well wishers of the party, not enemies.” It is to be known that the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting is to be held today after facing a crushing defeat in the recent assembly elections. In this, the reasons for the defeat will be reviewed and further strategy will be discussed.
Will the members of the Gandhi family resign from all organizational posts?
The Congress party denied reports that members of the Gandhi family would resign from all organizational posts. Sources said Congress President Sonia Gandhi will preside over the CWC meeting, the top policy-making body of the Congress, at the party headquarters at 4 pm on Sunday. The CWC meeting is going to take place at a time when the Congress lost power in Punjab and also faced humiliating defeats in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.
