What is the reality?
Actually, this initiative of cycle ambulance is not new. Sindh Integrated Emergency and Health Services (SIEHS-1122), commonly known as Rescue 1122, started its pilot project in Karachi in May 2025. This service was started to solve the major problem of the city, where due to heavy traffic jams and narrow streets, it takes 20-30 minutes or more for a normal ambulance to reach the patient.
Support amid trolling
Although this initiative is being made fun of on social media, many people have also come out in its support. People say that this is a very practical and low-cost solution in densely populated urban areas and narrow streets. They argue that the lighter and faster bicycle can often reach the patient earlier than a full ambulance, saving valuable time and potentially saving lives.
