The villagers tried hard to stop him, but he went downstream in the middle of the river. There was chaos in the area after the incident. A team of local divers, villagers and police is searching for him, but till the time of writing this news, he could not be found. The video of middle-aged man Malan standing in the middle of a stream is going viral. However, Hindustan does not confirm the viral video.
Ravendra Singh, son of Athar Singh, resident of village Bilai Kukra of Haldaur police station area, had come to meet his relatives in village Shahzadpur of Mandawar police station area on Friday afternoon. According to eyewitnesses, Ravendra Singh had stayed at a sweet shop located in Rawali for some time. During this time, the people present informed them about the presence of water on Rawali Rapta and strong current in Malan river and advised them not to go further. Despite this, he moved ahead to cross the river and was swept away by the strong current. After reaching the stand in the Malan, the villagers tried to stop Ravendra by making noise, but he did not stop.
Divers started search operation
As soon as information about the incident was received, Mandawar police station in-charge and a large number of villagers reached the spot. Local divers started a search operation in the river. Police were also informed, after which the police team also reached the spot and started searching. The video of the incident is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In the video, people present nearby are seen calling Ravendra Singh not to move ahead and to return, but despite their warning, he moves ahead and is soon swept away in the strong current.
Three people died in rain related incidents
Three people died in separate incidents due to heavy rains in parts of UP on Friday. In Bijnor district, two minors who had gone to take bath in the Malan river were washed away in the strong current, while in Mirzapur, a man riding a moped and his two children were injured in a road collapse. Police area officer in Bijnor, Abhay Kumar Pandey said that Shaban (15), Aleem (16) and Sadim (15), residents of Radhagan area of Kiratpur, had gone to take bath in the Malan river on Friday evening. He told that all three jumped into the river from a bridge and started swimming under it and during this time Shaban and Aleem got trapped in the strong current and were swept away while Sadim swam out safely. The official said that divers are searching for the missing boys.
