Of the foreign students studying in America in 2019, 48 percent were Chinese and Indian students. This information has been given in a government report.
A report released on Friday by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) on migrant students in the US said that according to records of SEVIS, a web-based system that keeps information on international non-immigrant students and students coming under the exchange program in the US, the number of foreign students with F-1 and M-1 visas was 15.2 lakh in 2019. This decreased by 1.7 percent from 2018.
The F-1 visa is issued to international students attending an academic or English-language program at a college or university in the United States, while the M-1 visa is issued to foreign students attending vocational and technical institutions.
According to the report, in 2019, a total of 7,33,718 or 48 percent students in America were from China and India. Of these, 4,74,479 were from China and 2,49,221 were from India.
