The ongoing ceasefire system in Gaza has once again wavered. On Sunday, Israel fired airstrikes and tanks at many places in Gaza. Israel says that this action was taken in response to the attack on its forces. Meanwhile, local officials claim that at least 11 people have died in these attacks.
Israel said – the army was attacked, so it was necessary to respond
According to the Israeli Army, anti-tank missiles and firing were fired at their soldiers in the Rafah area. After this, the army targeted those places from where there was a possibility of attack.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had ordered the military to take a “strong response.”
Hamas statement – We are following the ceasefire
Hamas’ military wing said they were observing a ceasefire throughout Gaza and had no knowledge of what happened in Rafah. Hamas claimed that it does not want to restart any kind of conflict.
The ceasefire has been in effect since October 11 and was considered a major hope towards stopping the two-year-long war.
Warning on cross border activity – “If you cross the line, you will get fire”
Israel’s Defense Minister said that the “yellow line” up to which the army has retreated during the ceasefire will now be strictly marked.
He warned that any violation or attempt to cross the line would face direct firing.
Rafah border still closed, accusations against each other continue
The Rafah border, which has been the main route for humanitarian aid between Gaza and Egypt, remains closed.
Israel is saying that the border will open only when Hamas fulfills the ceasefire conditions.
On the other hand, Hamas is alleging that Israel’s violation resulted in the loss of 46 lives and halted supplies.
Tension also over the bodies of hostages
Israel says Hamas is delaying handing over the bodies of the hostages, while Hamas claims many bodies are buried under debris and require special equipment to extract them.
