The renovation work of the historic Al-Fatah Mosque located in the Mecca region of Saudi Arabia is progressing rapidly. The work is part of the second phase of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s historic mosques restoration project. This mosque has immense religious significance as Prophet Mohammed is believed to have offered prayers here during the conquest of Mecca. The objective of this project is to preserve the old architecture of the mosque and prepare it according to modern needs.

What changes will there be in the expansion and capacity of the mosque?
After the renovation of Al-Fatah Mosque, the space for people offering prayers will increase here. Being near the Mecca-Medina Highway, this mosque is very important for the local people and travelers. Under the project, the structure of the mosque is being strengthened and facilities are being increased.

Under the supervision of which institutions is this historic work being done?
This project has been launched to meet the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. Its main objective is to preserve the Islamic heritage of Saudi Arabia. Many big government departments are jointly monitoring this entire work so that the quality and historical identity is maintained.
Monitoring Institutions: Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Heritage Commission.
Engineering: The expertise of Saudi engineers is being used in this project.
Special Features: The mosque has been provided with a prayer room for women and easy accessibility for the disabled.
Project Phase: The work on Al-Fatah Mosque is included in the second phase which was launched on 12 July 2022.
