Azerbaijan’s State Security Service (SSS) has foiled a major terrorist plot. Security forces have arrested three people who were planning an armed attack on a foreign embassy in the capital Baku. According to Israeli media reports, the terrorists’ target was the Israeli Embassy, and the arrest took place during the visit of the Israeli Foreign Minister.
Who were arrested?
All three arrested suspects are citizens of Azerbaijan. Security agencies have made public their identities:
Guliyev Ilgar Ilham Oglu (born 2000) – Known as “Abu Zar al-Muhajir”.
Piriyev Amin Elshad oglu (Born 2005) – Also known as “Abdurshid”.
Alizade Alvin Sanan Oglu (born 2005) – Known as “Abdurahman al-Azeri.”
Which terrorist organization were the wires connected to?
Investigation has revealed that these three suspects have joined the terrorist organization. ISIS-K Had criminal relations with members of (Islamic State Khorasan Province). These people had also collected weapons and other equipment to carry out the attack. Officials say the conspiracy was hatched on the basis of “religious enmity”.
How were these suspects caught?
According to reports, security agencies caught these three when they were moving towards the area where the embassy is located. The court has sent all three to custody until the investigation is completed. They have been charged with terrorism and illegal weapons possession under sections 28, 214.2.1 and 214.2.3 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
