The Air Defense of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has successfully intercepted 5 ballistic missiles and 35 drones fired by Iran on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. What is the update of Defense Ministry regarding air security?
The UAE Defense Ministry informed that their air defense system identified these missiles and drones in time and eliminated them before they could reach populated areas. The army says that they are fully alert for the safety of the country’s borders and citizens. This incident is part of a series of attacks by Iran starting from 28 February 2026. Security agencies are on high alert to prevent any untoward incident.

Also on March 31, UAE had intercepted 8 missiles and 36 drones which left four people injured due to debris in the southern part of Dubai. On the same day, a Kuwaiti oil tanker was also attacked.

Keeping security in mind, airlines like Emirates, Etihad and flydubai have changed the travel rules for Iranian citizens. Entry and transit of Iranian citizens into the country is currently banned. However, Iranian citizens who hold UAE Golden Visa are exempted from this rule. Indian expatriates living in Gulf countries have been advised to check the websites of the airlines before their travel. Apart from this, there has also been news of missile attack on an oil tanker Aqua 1 in the maritime area of Qatar due to which there is tension in the area.
