Break on Iran-America conflict, Trump announced to stop attacks for 2 weeks

US President Donald Trump has suspended the “bombing and striking” campaign on Iran, declared a two-way ceasefire for two weeks and said Iran’s 10-point proposal is workable.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the ten-point proposal would form the basis of negotiations for a permanent agreement, while reiterating that the US has achieved most of its military objectives.

Donald Trump said, “Based on my conversations with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, in which they urged me tonight to stop the destructive force being sent to Iran, and on the condition that Iran agrees to fully, immediately and safely open the Strait of Hormuz, I have agreed to suspend the bombing and attack on Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a two-way ceasefire.”

He said, “The reason for doing this is that we have already met and exceeded all military objectives, and have made significant progress toward a definitive agreement on long-term peace with Iran and peace in the Middle East. We have received a 10-point proposal from Iran, and we believe that is a practical basis for negotiations.”

Trump said Iran has agreed to almost all points of contention in the past, and the extension would provide time to finalize a permanent agreement.

He said, “The United States and Iran have reached agreement on almost all past contentious issues, but the two-week period will allow time to finalize and implement the agreement. As President of the United States and representing the countries of the Middle East, I am proud to see this long-standing problem move closer to resolution.”

This incident comes after Trump made provocative statements on his ‘Truth Social’ platform, in which he warned of unprecedented destruction and also hinted at regime change in Iran.

Trump wrote, “Tonight an entire civilization will come to an end, never to be brought back. I don’t want it to happen, but that’s probably what will happen.”

The new ceasefire announced by the US President has raised hopes that the conflict, which began on March 28, will finally end as both sides step back to ensure peace.
