CBI brought back murder accused Sombir Motta from America, Haryana Police took custody at the airport.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs has achieved a major success. Wanted criminal Sombir Motta in the case of murder and illegal use of weapons has been brought back from America to India on 10 February 2026. Sombir was wanted by Haryana Police for a long time, who has now been brought under the grip of law.

How did Sombir Motta return and what were the allegations?

Sombir Motta has several serious criminal cases registered against him in Haryana related to murder and illegal use of firearms. On the request of Haryana Police, CBI had issued Interpol Red Corner Notice against Sombir on 11 February 2025. US investigative agency NCB Washington helped India in the process of tracking and deporting him.

This entire operation was completed in coordination with Interpol channels and international law enforcement agencies. Sombir was deported from the US and reached Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Tuesday.

Now what will be the next legal action?

As soon as he landed at Delhi airport, the Haryana Police team took Sombir Motta into their custody. The police will now produce him in the concerned court, after which further judicial investigation and interrogation will begin. As per CBI records, more than 150 criminals have been brought back to India so far through international coordination. This action is part of India’s tough policy against international crime.
