China’s diplomacy for peace in the region

China is currently actively working under ‘Shuttle Diplomacy’ to restore peace in the Gulf countries. Before reaching Kuwait, the Chinese envoy also visited Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). China is trying to implement ceasefire in this area as soon as possible and restart talks at the political level.

Chinese officials have emphasized the security of energy infrastructure and maritime trade routes in the Gulf region so that the world economy is not affected. China’s Foreign Ministry has made it clear that no solution will be found through military force and military operations should be stopped immediately. Before this diplomatic effort, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had also held preliminary discussions over phone with the concerned parties.

Return of thousands of people and move to Kuwait

In view of the current security situation in the Gulf region, China has taken precautionary measures. According to reports on March 12, China has safely evacuated more than 10,000 of its passengers from UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabia. Along with this, a strict warning has been issued for Chinese citizens not to travel around conflict areas. Seeing this environment, other foreign workers living in Gulf countries are also keeping an eye on the situation.

Kuwait’s Foreign Minister made it clear in the meeting that Kuwait is not a direct part of this conflict, but being a country in the region, it is definitely affected by it. Kuwait supports finding a solution through diplomatic dialogue. Along with this, the Kuwait government has assured that the safety of all Chinese institutions and employees working in the country will be completely ensured.
