What is the update on trade and arbitration
Diplomatic efforts have intensified to reduce the ongoing tension in the region. Egypt has officially supported Oman’s mediation between the US and Iran so that the matter can be resolved through dialogue. The deep impact of this instability is also being seen on the economic front. President Al-Sisi said that due to the current regional tensions, the Suez Canal has suffered a loss of revenue of about 10 billion dollars.
There has been a huge decline in trade through the Suez Canal, which has affected the global supply chain. Priority is being given to the safety of maritime vessels in the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz. According to the data of March 18, 2026, a slight decrease of 0.08 EGP has been recorded in the rate of the Egyptian pound against the dollar in Egyptian banks. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has also made it clear that despite solidarity, no Arab country has yet made any formal demand for military help from them.
