The President of Egypt has described the security of Kuwait and other Gulf countries as an integral part of its national security. This conversation took place after the recent attacks by Iran, in which some residential areas of Kuwait and the fuel depot of Kuwait Airport were targeted. Along with providing military and logistics support, both the leaders stressed on resolving the issue through diplomacy and dialogue. In the last 24 to 48 hours, Egypt has also held similar discussions with the leaders of UAE and Qatar regarding regional security.
What is Kuwait’s action under the UN Charter?
Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry has reacted strongly to the violation of its country’s sovereignty and airspace. For this, Article 51 of the United Nations (UN) Charter has been cited. This rule gives full right to self-defense to any country. Kuwait has made it clear that it will take all necessary steps to protect its territory and citizens.
