Explosions in Iran’s Tehran and Bandar Abbas created panic, government said gas leak was the reason.

Incidents of fires and explosions have been reported in many big cities of Iran in the last few weeks. These accidents have occurred in areas like Tehran, Bandar Abbas, Qom and Ahwaz. According to reports, since the ceasefire with Israel on June 24, 2025, about 50 such incidents have taken place in 19 provinces of Iran. Local officials have cited gas leak or electrical fault as the main reason behind these incidents, while various types of discussions are taking place among the people.

In which cities most accidents occurred?

Most incidents have been recorded in Iran’s capital Tehran and its surrounding areas. According to the data, a total of 15 cases have been reported in Tehran province. After this, 5 major incidents took place in Hormozgan province, where Bandar Abbas is located. There was also a big explosion in a residential area near Qom city, in which many people were injured. Apart from this, there were also reports of fire at a refinery near Ahvaz.

What types of buildings were damaged?

What do officials and Israel say?

Iranian officials have denied any external attack behind these incidents. The Governor of Qom and other officials have called it a gas leak or accident. On the other hand, Israel has also publicly denied any involvement in these incidents. Although there has been tension between the two countries since the June war, till now no concrete evidence of any conspiracy behind these blasts has emerged.
