Female passenger caught at Muscat Airport, was bringing drugs hidden in her bag, police arrested

The police and customs department have taken a major action at Oman’s Muscat International Airport. Here a woman of Asian origin has been arrested for trying to smuggle drugs. Officers seized a large amount of marijuana from the woman. This action was taken jointly by Royal Oman Police and Airport Customs officials on 10 February 2026.

Had brought drugs hidden in a bag

Normal checking of passengers’ luggage was going on at the airport. Meanwhile, the customs officials became suspicious of the woman’s bag. When the luggage was opened and examined, the drug marijuana was found hidden in it. Initial police investigation has revealed that the woman had brought these drugs with the intention of supplying them in Oman. At present the accused woman is in police custody and preparations are underway to send the case to public prosecution.

There is a strict law on drugs in Oman

The Sultanate of Oman has a zero tolerance policy regarding drugs. According to the law here, a person smuggling drugs can even face death penalty. Apart from this, there is also a strict penalty for drug addicts in Oman.

Using drugs attracts a jail term of up to 3 years and a heavy fine. If foreign nationals are found guilty of this crime, they are deported forever after conviction. There is also a provision of fine and jail for those who hide information about drugs.
