A sudden fire broke out in a 67-storey residential building in Dubai Marina area on Friday night. This incident had frightened thousands of people living there. But the promptness of Dubai Civil Defense averted a major accident. Fire fighters worked hard all night to control the fire and by Saturday morning the situation was completely under control. It is a matter of relief that everyone is safe in such a big incident.
How were 3820 people evacuated safely?
The building where the fire broke out is known as ‘Marina Pinnacle’ or ‘Tiger Tower’. The work of extinguishing the fire continued for about 6 hours. Officials said that saving people’s lives was their priority first and the Civil Defense showed amazing agility in this.
A total of 3,820 people were evacuated safely from 764 flats. There is no news of anyone being injured or killed in this entire incident. Ambulances and medical teams were also present on the spot to provide help if needed. Some residents reported that the fire alarm had not gone off, so they learned of the fire by smelling smoke or through calls from friends.
Update on tram service and help to residents
After the fire, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) took immediate action due to safety reasons. Tram service between Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah station was stopped and shuttle buses were operated for the convenience of passengers. Temporary living arrangements for the people whose houses have been affected by this fire are being made in collaboration with the building developer. Currently, cooling work is going on and the exact cause of the fire is being investigated.
