Minority communities coming from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan, members of Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians who had come to India by 31 December 2024. They were forced to take shelter to avoid religious harassment, now they will be able to live in the country without passports or other travel documents. The order has been issued by the Union Home Ministry in this regard.
According to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), which came into force last year, Indian citizenship will be given to these oppressed minorities who come to India on or before 31 December 2014. This important order issued under the newly implemented Immigration and Forense Act, 2025 by the Ministry of Home Affairs has brought relief for a large number of people, especially Hindus from Pakistan, who reached India after 2014 and were worried about their future.
The order states that “Any person of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christians of Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan, who was forced to come to India due to religious harassment or fear, and by 31 December 2024, by 31 December 2024, without a valid document (such as passport or other travel documents) or valid documents, it will be exempted from the rule of holding India when the duration of passport or other travel documents is over,”
