Indian-American MP Rohit Khanna has written a letter to the administration of US President Donald Trump, expressing concern over the safety of minority Sikh and Hindu families in Afghanistan, who are continuously facing harassment by terrorist organizations in the Asian country.

“The US had proposed to resettle 18,000 refugees this fiscal year, including 5,000 who are persecuted on religious or other security grounds,” he said. Additionally, up to 7,500 people may be referred to the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) by the U.S. Embassy in any location.”
Khanna said, “Due to the increasing violence against Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan, the potential threat to them has increased. I request the US Embassy in Kabul to provide emergency asylum under USRAP to the Sikhs and Hindus present in Afghanistan and that the Ministries of State and Homeland Security accept this proposal without reservation to ensure their safety. The letter was written on April 18 and was also addressed to Joseph Wilson, the head of the US Embassy in Kabul.
