Due to increased tensions between Iran and the UAE, recent missile and drone attacks have raised concerns in some parts of the UAE. UAE security forces foiled most of the attacks in the air, but debris falling after being intercepted caused damage to some residential and commercial areas. A high alert has been issued regarding security arrangements in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and citizens have been advised to exercise caution.
These areas of Dubai and Abu Dhabi were affected
During the attack, there has been damage due to debris falling at certain places, about which official information has been given:
Dubai International Airport (DXB): Minor damage was caused by drone debris falling near Terminal 3. Flights were stopped for some time, but now limited operations have started. Passengers are getting entry only after the booking is confirmed.
Palm Jumeirah: A fire broke out due to a drone falling near ‘Fairmont The Palm’ hotel, which was immediately controlled.
Burj Al Arab: The exterior of this famous hotel suffered minor damage from missile debris.
Abu Dhabi: Several attacks on Al Dhafra Air Base were stopped, while 6 people were injured when a drone fell in Musaffa Industrial Area.
Army’s ‘Bahadur’ system neutralizes 96% of attacks
On social media, people are praising UAE’s defense system and calling it ‘Bahadur System’. Actually, it is South Korea’s ‘Cheongung-II’ system which killed 29 out of 30 targets in its first major test, which is a 96% success rate. Apart from this, systems like THAAD and Patriot are also working continuously to prevent threats coming from the sky. Dubai Metro stations and basements of buildings have been made safe shelters.
Strict instructions from the government and information about casualties
So far, 3 people have been confirmed dead in this attack, which includes Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi citizens. More than 112 people have been injured, including many Indians. The UAE government has made it clear that posting videos of attacks or interceptions on social media is a serious crime and strict action will be taken against those who do so. It has been advised to avoid rumors and rely only on official news.
